Channel Hastings 'British Summer' Challenge Winners

Summer In Hastings IV

Jumping

A group of local photography enthusiasts recently showcased a wide range of images from their 'British Summer' Photo Challenge at The Cafe In Alexandra Park. Local people were invited to vote for their favourite image from the selection of original photographs displayed on Sunday 2 August.

The budding photographers are all members of the Channel Hastings group on the popular photo-sharing site Flickr. It currently consists of 333 members comprising both local residents and visitors to Hastings and has over 10,000 photos taken in Hastings and 1066 Country. The joint winners of the Challenge were photography enthusiasts David Nebesky (Sea Observer) and Andy Wilson. Their superb seaside images proved to be the most popular shots with local people.

Freelance photographer and organiser of the challenge Terry Russell said: "We'd like to thank everybody who came along to support us in The Cafe In The Park on Sunday. If anybody has a camera and a creative itch to scratch, then please join us for our future challenges."

After the popularity of the 'British Summer' theme the photography enthusiasts have decided to launch a 'Faces' challenge for the month of August. To participate in the latest photo challenge all budding photographers need a Yahoo account and then to sign up to Flickr. The basic membership is free and after joining Flickr they can then join the Channel Hastings group and participate in the photo challenges.
