Channel Hastings 'Book Titles' Challenger Wins With A Room With A View

A room with a view:- E.M. Forster
A group of local photography enthusiasts recently showcased a wide range of images from their 'Book Titles' Photo Challenge at The Cafe In Alexandra Park. Local people were invited to vote for their favourite image from the selection of original photographs displayed on Sunday 1 February.

The budding photographers are all members of the Channel Hastings group on the popular photo-sharing site Flickr. It currently consists of 261 members comprising both local residents and visitors to Hastings and has over 6500 photos taken in Hastings and 1066 Country. The winning image, taken at Rye Harbour, was titled a 'Room with a View' and proved to be the most popular photograph with local people.

Freelance photographer and organiser of the challenge Terry Russell said: "We'd like to thank everybody who came along to support us in The Cafe In The Park on Sunday. If you missed the display at the Cafe In The Park you still have the opportunity to view your favourite images at our 'Channel Hastings Book Titles' exhibition at Hastings Library during the month of February."

After the popularity of the 'Book Titles' theme the photography enthusiasts have decided to launch a 'Seven Wonders of Hastings & 1066 Country' challenge for the month of February. To participate in the latest photo challenge all budding photographers need a Yahoo account and then to sign up to Flickr. The basic membership is free and after joining Flickr they can then join the Channel Hastings group and participate in the photo challenges.
