Sussex Photography Competition & Exhibition

‘My Sussex’ is a new photography competition and exhibition, produced in association with RedBox Cameras.

Through the theme ‘My Sussex’ we invite photographers to capture an aspect of Sussex life or landscape that is particularly special to them. The competition is free to enter and we have some great prizes on offer:

1st Prize: A high-end digital compact camera to the value of £300 supplied by RedBox Cameras.

2nd Prize: A photography course supplied by UK Photo Courses - the winner can choose from a place on the popular 'PhotoClub in the Pub' courses or a One-to-One course.

3rd Prize: A selection of quality photographic papers from Online Papers: Hahnemühle Range pack value £30.00 + vat
A Canson Range pack value £16.00 + vat
A Permajet Range Pack value £12.76 + vat

And up to 12 commended entries (along with the 3 main prize winners) will have their photos displayed at the 'My Sussex' photographic exhibition to be held at Cafe Baskerville in Crowborough between 18th September and 2nd October 2010. This event will be part of the inaugural Crowborough Arts Festival.

The competition is open to everyone, amateurs and professionals. Entries must be in digital format, but there are no restrictions on the type of camera you can use. There are no restrictions on digital processing or enhancement, however the judges will be looking for photographs rather than 'digital art'.

The competition is open for submissions until 2nd September 2010.

Channel Hastings 'How Low?' Exhibition

We are holding a new exhibition at One Cafe & Gallery, 1 London Road, St Leonards. The private view is 6-8pm on Friday 30th July and the exhibition runs until Friday 27 August. The exhibition will be showcasing the winners from our recent 'How Low?' photo challenge.

Everybody is warmly invited to come along and join in the fun!

cc Andy WilsonThis was one of a series of canine portraits I took in Warrior Square at the St Leonards Festival yesterday. All shot from a dogs-eye-view with an 18mm lens and no help from the viewfinder. I liked this one best. Probably because it's got the owner in it too. I don't know his name or his dog's - but I'd bet that one of them is called Elsie.
